Code of Ethics

Duty to the Public

  1. Conduct services first and foremost with regard to the safety, health and welfare of the general public.
  2. Provide services, recommendations and information based upon honest, scientific, accurate, and factual knowledge.

Duty to the Environment

  1. Be responsible for the protection and preservation of our most valuable resource - the environment.
  2. Operate in a safe manner in handling all products, and monitor safety and environmental factors relating to services performed.

Duty to the Laws of our Land

Abide by all laws and regulations affecting the green industry, and support the enforcement of these laws.


Duty to Fellow Professionals

  1. Refain from the use of false, misleading or deceptive marketing or advertising practices that may result in the degradation of the professional industry image, or injure the professional image of colleagues.
  2. Utilize sound professional management practices and encourage associates/employees to respond to their peers in a like manner.
  3. Recognize the importance of a strong relationship with vendors (suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and business service providers).  Members should follow all directions and recommendations of products and equipment.  In turn, product testing and use results must be reported accurately bu all vendors.  Both vendor and user obligations must be met in a timley manner.
  4. Help all customers, nonmember industry representatives, suppliers and fellow companies become aware of the standards set forth in this Code of Ethics.

Duty to the Association

Participate in Association activities and events to help further the profession.

 

Membership Classifications

Please read the qualifications and answer all questions on this application. Submit full payment with application. All members shall keep on file the name of the company representative who is authorized to exercise all of the member’s rights. No firm, partnership or corporation shall be eligible for regular or associate membership if fifty percent (50%) or more of its control is owned by an existing regular or associate member of the Association. All members shall have a record consistent with and agree to abide by the Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws, and Code of Ethics of the Mid-America Green Industry Council, and be in sympathy with the purpose of the Association.

REGULAR MEMBER
Application for Regular Membership in MAGICouncil may be made by any person, firm, or corporation provided that such applicant for membership shall: Be active in the green industry; and be properly certified or llicensed by the respective state agency for the application of pesticides, if engaged in the application of pesticides under one or more categories in the states where business is performed.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER
Any person, firm or corporation not engaged in the care of lawns and meeting the following requirements is eligible to be an Associate member: Be engaged in business or research activities other than university or trade school activities, which are related to the lawn care profession, such as, but not limited to, chemical and equipment manufacturing, representation and distribution.

AFFILIATE MEMBER
Shall be limited to employees of Regular member companies other than the representative designated for the Regular member.

The Mid-America Green Industry Council is proud to be a regional affiliate member of the Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA), the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCAA), The Irrigation Association (IA) and RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment).
